Dr. David M. Yarber, Sr.

FOUNDER

The late Dr. David M. Yarber, Sr. was product of the Detroit Public School System, graduating from the historic General John J. Pershing High School, class of 1973. In 1977, Dr. Yarber earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Detroit (Mercy), in the field of Business Administration. He later earned a Master of Arts degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University in 1984. After acknowledging his call into the preaching ministry, in March 2005, Reverend David Yarber became a student at Ashland Theological Seminary (Detroit Campus) graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in June 2010. In January 2011, he enrolled into Ashland’s Doctoral, Black Church Studies Program – Cleveland, Ohio. His doctoral dissertation published in calendar year 2014, emphasized the need for the development of a “Family Life Center” in Northeast Detroit. As a result, Davison Holistic Incorporate (a non-profit 501C3)  launched during the calendar year 2017. Reverend Dr. David Yarber received the Doctor of Ministry Degree in June 2014.

Dr. Yarber, the eighth pastor of Davison Missionary Baptist Church, elected to serve on the fourth Sunday in December 2006, following the death of his late father. In addition to his pastoral position at Davison Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Yarber continued to serve as the Moderator of the Calvary Missionary Baptist District Association of Detroit and Vicinity. He was also affiliated with following organizations: Clergy Representative of the O.H. Pye III Funeral Home (Detroit), John-R Business Association of Detroit,Board Member of the E.C. Morris Institute (Little Rock, Arkansas) and a Member of the Zone Three Pastors Association of Detroit, Michigan.

Prior to becoming a pastor, Dr. David M. Yarber was an employee of the Ford Motor Company. He served in various managerial positions for thirty years and retired in calendar year 2007, as a Marketing and Sales Division, Quality Manager. 

 Dr. Yarber is survived by his lovely wife Wren Yvette Morton-Yarber for thirty-eight years. Their son David Matthew II (age 34) is an enlisted member of the U.S. Navy. Their daughter Corrine Margaret-Ann (age 31) is a graduate of the Oakland University (Rochester, MI) and is married to Brandon Sharp. Brandon and Corrine are the proud parents Bella Grace Sharp (age 1 years old).
